Day 1.
Pick up at your local pick
up point and enjoy a leisurely
drive onto Dover. Depart Dover
to France by ferry, then onward
to Cologne, Germany for your
overnight stay, and to explore
the Christmas Markets.
Day 2.
After breakfast we travel
onto Dresden, Germany for our
lunch stop. After lunch travel
onto Prague for an overnight
stay. This evening we will visit
Prague castle and have a walking
tour down to the Charles Bridge
and the old town.
Day 3.
After breakfast we travel
onto Bratislava, Slovakia, for
a tour around the city. This
afternoon we travel down to
Hungary for an overnight stay
near Budapest.
Day 4.
This morning we travel
into Budapest, to join your river
cruise vessel the Viking Freya
Budapest, Hungary Overnight
in port. Enjoy free time in
Hungary’s historic capital, enjoy
a stroll along the Danube or visit
shops along the Vaci Utca. Meet
your fellow guests at a welcome
reception andwelcome dinner
on board.
Day 5.
Budapest, Hungary. Enjoy
a guided city tour, starting on the
cosmopolitan Pest side of the
city. See the elegant boulevards
andmansions, National Opera
House, Parliament Building
and Chain Bridge. Visit Heroes’
Square to find out more about
Hungary’s history. Cross the
Danube to the castle district
of Buda, and exploreMatthias
Church and Fishermen’s Bastion
for magnificent views of the
city. In the afternoon, sail the
picturesque Danube Bend.
Day 6.
Vienna, Austria. Your
panoramic city tour takes in the
Ringstrasse, linedwith imposing
palaces and grand residences.
Seemagnificent Hofburg Palace,
St. Stephen’s Cathedral and
the State Opera House. Enjoy
an optional evening concert of
Mozart and Strauss performed
by a Viennese orchestra.
Day 7.
Sail the Danube through
Austria’s glorious Wachau Valley,
a UNESCOWorld Heritage
site rich in culture, history and
natural beauty. Explore 900
year oldMelk Abbey, with
its magnificent frescoes and
library, and priceless medieval
manuscripts.
Day 8.
Passau, Germany. This
elegant German city on three
rivers the Inn, Ilz and Danube
is home to the impressive 18th
century New Bishop’s Residenz.
Stroll the town’s beautiful old
streets, past traditional patrician
houses. See the Oberhaus
Fortress and visit the impressive
baroque St. Stephan’s Cathedral.
Day 9.
Regensburg, Germany.
In the beautiful preserved
medieval city of Regensburg,
see St. Peter’s Church with its
gleaming spires, the Old Town
Hall and Old Stone Bridge. In the
afternoon, enjoy scenic cruising
along the Danube River. Or
take an optional excursion to
the dramatic Danube Narrows
through the narrowest and
steepest section of the river.
Day 10.
Main-Daunbe Canal
Scenic cruising and Nuremburg,
Germany. Sail through the
many locks that comprise the
engineeringmarvel of the
Main Danube Canal. Stretching
106miles fromKelheimon
the Danube to Bamberg on
the River Main, it connects the
Black Sea to the North Sea. in
Nuremburg, tour themedieval
walled city with its half timbered
houses and dramatic castle.
See the Palace of Justice, site
of the 1946 Nuremberg trials.
Shop for handicrafts in the
delightful Market Square, or take
an optional WorldWar II history
tour.
Day 11.
Nuremburg, Germany.
Disembark this morning to join
your landcruiser as we travel
onto Rothenburg-ob-der-Tauber
for our lunch break, and to view
this magnificent old town. We
next travel onto Heidelburg
for our overnight stay near the
Rhine.
Day 12.
After breakfast we travel
ontoMonschau, Germany for a
lunchtime visit, and then onto
Brussels for our overnight stay,
to see the wonderful Christmas
Markets.
Day 13.
This morning after
breakfast we travel to Bruges,
Belgium to see this wonderful
town. In the afternoon we travel
to Calais for our ferry back to
Dover, and then on to your pick
up point in the late evening.
