DODGEMS
there’s fun for all the family with this fairground favourite. and it’s the first time dodgems have been onboard a ship.
TABLE TENNIS
fancy something active where you don’t have to run around? grab a paddle for a table tennis battle, on one of the fullsized tables on the mezzanine level.
SEAPLEX
for all the fun of the fair, Quantum Class ships have introduced the seaplex℠ — a bright and futuristic space that transforms from sports and games by day to music and dancing by night. take a whirl on the first ever dodgems at sea, or play a few games of basketball. then after dark, slip on your dancing shoes — or roller skates — and take to the floor, as the lights go down and the disco lights come up.
ROCK WALL
a perennial favourite and Royal Caribbean hallmark, the rock wall is a great way to spend an afternoon and the perfect activity for all the family. scale the colourful stones and take in amazing views from 40ft above deck — and if you get to the top, make sure you ring the bell so everyone knows you’ve made it to
the summit.
NORTH STAR
for those with a head for heights, the north star℠ should be at the top of your to-do list. this jewel-shaped, elevated viewing capsule lifts you 300ft into the air, allowing you to see for miles in all directions. not only is it a wonderful way to spot future ports as you approach them, it gives you an incredible bird’seye view of the ship below.
RIPCORD BY IFLY®
if you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to fly, this is your chance — in complete safety. this exhilarating skydiving simulator means you can experience the thrill of weightlessness, as powerful jets hold you up. the whole thing takes place in a 23ft tall glass flight chamber, so you can fly and take in the ocean views at the same time. it’s also surrounded by a viewing platform so friends and family can see you having the time of your life. Classes start hourly, but booking is still advised to ensure you get the spot that suits you.
H2O ZONE℠
don your swimwear and get ready for some laughs at the h2o zone℠ — an outdoor water play park filled with colourful statues and fountains that shoot water from all angles. sure to be a hit with the kids, adults can join in the fun or just supervise from the sun loungers.
GOLF
another activity you might not expect at sea, now you can practice your swing while you sail. there’s mini-golf for lighthearted fun, and also a golf simulator where you can hone your skills on a virtual golf course. clubs are provided too, so there’s no need to pack light.
ROLLER-SKATING
for a hilarious evening’s entertainment, the full-sized sports court converts into a roller disco by night. grab your legwarmers and relive your teenage years (or embarrass your teenager).
CIRCUS SCHOOL
if you’re looking for something a little different, it’s tough to beat a circus school. you can learn juggling, take on the lyra hoops or tackle the flying trapeze. yes, really. it’s a unique, and of course fun, take on holiday entertainment.
POOL TABLES
playing pool onboard a moving cruise ship might seem like a pipe dream, but it’s real enough with royal caribbean. these high-tech, gyroscopic pool tables are self-levelling (using technology more often found in military ops), so your game will be smooth whatever the conditions outside.
RUNNING TRACK
for those who love to keep fit (or just fancy taking a tour around the ship), the running track is for you. take a leisurely walk and admire the view, or speed up to get in your daily dose of endorphins. this top-deck feature is one of the best ways to see the ship, and the views all round.
FLOWRIDER®
this is your chance to ride a wave without leaving the ship. at the flowRider® surf simulator, you can hang loose and pretend you’re right there with the best of them on bondi beach. there are lessons available for total beginners, but you can just surf like a pro or body board and enjoy the water rushing past you on all sides. like, totally radical, man.
SPORTS COURT
for some friendly competition, the seaplex℠ doubles as a full-sized sports court. basketball, football and more are all on the menu, and the ocean vista backdrop makes this one game of five-a-side you won’t forget in a hurry.
ADULT-ONLY SOLARIUM
a blissful retreat from the more lively areas onboard, the solarium is a tranquil sun-trap, where adults can unwind and take it easy. curl up with a book, relax in the jacuzzi, or enjoy a healthy lunch at the adjoining bistro — this is the place to come if you’re looking for a little ‘me’ time.
VITALITY SPA & FITNESS CENTRE
take on the treadmill in front of stunning ocean views. it’s the gym, but not quite as you know it. there are cardio and weight machines to get your heart pumping and muscles moving, including ellipticals, bench presses, free weights and more. you’ll also find fitness classes, including spin, yoga or pilates, or you can enlist the services of a personal trainer.
SPA
the perfect place to relax and unwind, vitality spa utilises luxury elemis products and offers a host of indulgent treatments, including deep tissue massage, hot stone therapy, facials, acupuncture, hair styling and much more. there’s something here to suit all ages and both genders — even teens needn’t feel left out, with a special menu of treatments designed just for them.
