DAY 1
Fly UK to Lyon
Welcome to Lyon. You will be met at the airport and transferred to the ship
where you will be welcomed by your Captain and crew. Tonight enjoy a
welcome reception and dinner on board.
DAY 2
Lyon
Lyon is France’s third largest city, a former Roman capital positioned
at the conference of the Rhone and Saone rivers, which is steeped in
history. Your tour starts with a drive to the Basilique Notre Dame de
Fourviere, Lyon’s hilltop church, with stunning views over the town.
Then pass by the recently re–discovered Roman amphitheatre and walk
through the cobbled streets of the gastronomic old town. In the evening,
sail north through the beautiful Beaujolais region.
DAY 3
Chalon-Sur-Saone to Beaune
Travel by road to the quaint village of Beaune, where you visit the
Hospices de Beaune. Marvel at the multi–coloured roofs of this former
hospital, now a museum, which has become one of the symbols of
Burgundy. Return to the ship for lunch, and then depart in the afternoon
for Macon arriving in the evening to enjoy local entertainment onboard.

DAY 4
Macon
Another important wine region and gateway to the Beaujolais vineyards.
Walk the Heritage Trail from Old Saint Vincent to the General Hospital
buildings, half–timbered house and Soufflot Chapel, maybe trying some
local wines at the many tasting displays in the town.
DAY 5
Tournon
Join your local guide for a walking tour of Tournon, which is dominated
by the 16th century castle and Roman ruins, and is nestled in the valley
near the steep slopes of le Massif Central, France’s 3rd largest mountain
range. The area has a long tradition in wine making, including the
renowned wine growing centre of Tain l’Hermitage across the river.

DAY 6
Avignon
Avignon has a rich history from Celtic beginnings to being the residence
of the Popes and later central to the French Revolution. Although a
fortified town, it is the Papal Palace which stands more secure on a hill
in the centre of town; its walls are 17–18 feet thick. Your guided walk with
a local guide takes you through this historic centre strolling the cobbled
lane-ways overlooking the famous ‘Pont de Avignon’.

DAY 1
Fly UK to Munich, Transfer to Nuremberg
Welcome to Nuremberg. Transfer to your EmeraldWaterways luxury river
cruise ship and be welcomed by your Captain and crew. The city is situated
along the Main Danube canal, an engineering masterpiece linking the rivers of
Germany with the mighty Danube which flows from the Alps to the Black Sea.
DAY 2
Kelheim - Regensburg, Germany
The morning takes you through the final stretch of the fascinating Main
Danube Canal to Kelheim. Continue cruising along the Danube River
to Regensburg, one of Germany’s best preserved medieval cities. On
your guided walking tour you’ll have the chance to see one of the oldest
bridges crossing the Danube and see the city’s architectural highlights.

DAY 3
Passau, Germany
Cobblestone streets and graceful arcades welcome you in the beautiful
city of Passau. On the morning’s walking tour, stroll through the old
town’s narrow alleys and see the hilltop Oberhaus Fortress from the
town below. Visit St. Stephen’s Cathedral, a wonderful example of
Baroque architecture and home to Europe’s largest church organ with
more than 17,000 pipes.
DAY 4
Melk - Durnstein, Austria
Situated within Austria’s wine–growing region, Melk is home to an
imposing 900–year old Benedictine Abbey which features Austria’s
finest Italian baroque architecture. Later the ship sails through the
spectacular Wachau Valley and on to Dürnstein, one of the most
enchanting villages of the Wachau wine region.

DAY 5
Vienna, Austria
The “City of Waltzes”. Explore Austria’s capital beginning with a drive
along the Ringstrasse, where you will see Vienna’s world famous Opera
House, Burgtheatre, Spanish Riding School, Town Hall, St. Stephen’s
Cathedral and the Hofburg Imperial Palace
DAY 6
Bratislava, Slovakia
Set on the crossroads of ancient trade routes in the heart of Europe,
Bratislava the capital of Slovakia, embodies various cultures – primarily
Celtic, Roman and Slavic. Enjoy a sightseeing tour including the
enchanting Old City with its Town Hall, Mirbach Palace and the Gothic
Cathedral of St Martin.

family. Evening Captain’s Gala Dinner.
DAY 7
Avignon to Arles
Sail into the Camargue wilderness region to the capital of Provence.
Join your local guide for a walking tour showcasing the highlights of the
city in particular the exterior of the 2000 year old Roman Amphitheatre
still in use today. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax on board and
explore Arles further.
DAY 8
Arles, Disembark. Fly Marseille to the UK
After breakfast, disembark the ship and transfer to the airport for your
return flight to the UK.
DAY 7
Budapest, Hungary
Budapest is Eastern Europe’s liveliest and most cosmopolitan city. Enjoy
a guided tour of the city sights including the Royal Palace of Buda,
hilltop castle complex and the Chain Bridge linking Buda and Pest. In the
evening the ship will take you for a night–time cruise along the Danube,
passing under the city’s numerous bridges, whilst enjoying a traditional
Hungarian farewell dinner, complete with folk dancing and music.
DAY 8
Budapest, Disembark. Fly Budapest to the UK
After breakfast, disembark the ship and transfer to the airport for your
return flight to the UK.
